Operator: SubsidizedHousing.org is operated by NPAT LLC, 8 The Green, Suite B, Dover, DE 19901, United States. Questions: contact@npat.io.
Important: SubsidizedHousing.org is an independent, privately-operated information service. It is not a government agency and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of HUD, any housing authority, or any government body. We do not administer housing benefits, waitlists, or eligibility, and nothing on this site is an offer of housing or an application for assistance.
We are not a background-check or screening service
SubsidizedHousing.org is not a tenant-screening, background-check, credit-check, criminal-history, eviction-history, rental-history, or consumer-reporting agency, and not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). We do not investigate or verify anyone’s criminal, credit, eviction, or rental history, and we make no eligibility determination and no recommendation about whether any person is “suitable” or “rentable” for any property. Trust-level labels described below reflect information supplied by the individual or confirmed by their housing authority for informational matching only and must not be relied upon as a screening result.
Fair housing & non-discrimination
We support the Fair Housing Act and applicable state and local fair-housing laws. We do not collect, use, or share protected-class characteristics (race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, or other characteristics protected under state or local law) for the purpose of screening, ranking, or sorting anyone, and prohibited discriminatory use of the service is not allowed. Program eligibility descriptions are summaries; the housing authority or property manager applies the controlling rules.
Information we collect
The site works without accounts for visitors. We collect the following, each for a stated purpose:
- Server logs — IP address, user agent, and requested URL, used for security and aggregate analytics.
- Contact and message forms — the email address (and, if you provide them, name, phone number, and optional property URL) you submit when contacting us or sending a message; used to respond to you.
- Housing-interest records (direct inquiries) — when you save a property, mark yourself interested, or send an inquiry to a specific property, we record which property and the contact information you choose to provide so the property's manager can respond to you. This is the direct-inquiry channel: you reached out to them, and we pass along only what you submitted.
- Housing-interest funnel — when you tell us whether you hold a voucher and optionally your ZIP and household needs, we use that to match you with relevant housing and, if you opt in, send updates about opportunities you follow. We do not use this information for screening.
- Voucher-holder profiles (voluntary) — if you create a voucher-holder profile, we store what you volunteer: voucher type, issuing housing authority and state, household size, an optional annual income (used only for affordability matching), current location, relocation preference, desired move timeline, issue/expiration dates, and notes. You may also optionally upload a voucher document so we can offer a higher trust label in our matching display.
- Property managers/owners — contact and, where applicable, billing details for verified-listing claims, placements, and payments.
- Demand-lead profiles (strict opt-in only) — if you check the box “I want housing providers to contact me about available housing,” we may share a profile with matched housing providers who have paid access: your name, email or phone, and the specific needs you volunteered (desired bedrooms, target rent or range, household size, move-in timeline, and whether you hold a voucher together with its trust label). This box is checked by default during setup so that interested renters aren't missed, but it is never forced: you can uncheck it or turn it off at any time, after which we stop sharing your profile immediately. We never share your voucher document, voucher number, income, or any protected-class detail, and we never share anything without that explicit opt-in.
- Direct inquiry — you contacted them through a specific listing yourself; they see only what you submitted.
- Demand lead — you checked “I want housing providers to contact me,” and a manager with paid access matched to your stated needs saw your profile. Your trust label (self-reported, document-verified, or PHA-confirmed) reflects information you supplied or that your housing authority confirmed; it is not a screening result and must not be used to screen or discriminate.
What property managers see — and don't see
We take care to avoid exposing sensitive details. A property manager never sees: your uploaded voucher document, your voucher number, your income, your household size (unless you choose to include it in a demand profile), or any protected-class detail. There are exactly two ways a manager learns about you:
If you never opt in to demand-lead sharing, managers see only aggregate, de-identified interest counts — never your identity.
Anonymized search data
Our “Could I qualify?” tool collects only non-sensitive inputs (city or ZIP, housing situation, bedrooms) and which results you click; income and household details stay on your device and are never sent to us there.
Cookies & analytics
We use privacy-respecting analytics and Google Analytics with IP anonymization. We do not serve third-party display ads, and no advertising partners set cookies on this site.
Payments (Stripe)
Paid placements are processed by Stripe (Stripe, Inc.). We do not see or store your full card number; Stripe stores payment details on our behalf in accordance with its own privacy policy. Your subscription is managed through Stripe.
How we share data
We do not sell personal data or email lists. There are exactly two ways a property manager receives your contact information, and both require your action: (1) direct inquiries — you contact a specific property yourself; and (2) demand leads — you explicitly opt in to be contacted about housing and a manager with paid access matches to the needs you volunteered. We share information otherwise only with service providers who need it to operate the site (hosting, analytics, payment processing via Stripe) and when required by law. We do not sell bulk email lists, and we do not sell, rent, or trade voucher-holder data.
Retention & security
We retain data only as long as needed for the purposes above and keep uploaded voucher documents access-restricted to you and our administrators, encrypted at rest in our storage provider. We apply reasonable technical safeguards, though no method is 100% secure online.
Children
The site is intended for adults; we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
